CASTAWAY RESORT – KO LIPE

Ko Lipe in the South of Thailand is one of our favourite Islands, is it beautiful, has amazing snorkelling, a cute walking street with yummy food, small enough to walk around & plenty of beaches to choose from. This is just a list of some of the things we love, for more about this item please read our Koh Lipe Blog.

On a recent trip to this beautiful Island we had the opportunity of staying at one of the top places on the Island, Castaway Resort, which is on Sunrise Beach, east of the Island.

The first thing that strikes you about this resort is the feel they have managed to create, the resort is called Castaway and that is the exact feeling you get.

It is almost like you have all arrived on a paradise Island and have created this beautiful place, with wooden bungalows, utilising old long tail boats for dinner tables, decking for yoga or fitness, a restaurant with several levels made entirely of what looks like reclaimed wood & of course hammocks everywhere.

More than just a resort/hotel, it starts to feel like your castaway home. And not only that, from more or less all angles you can see the glistening blue water and white sand of Sunrise beach.

The Bungalows:

They have various bungalows you can book, most are 2 stories with the bathroom on the bottom and sleeping area upstairs, and these ‘Breezy’ bungalows have balconies on both floors with the bottom one having 2x hammocks for you to relax, read & enjoy spending time in this beautiful place.

There are also other versions, like family size bungalows and ones that are all on 1 floor. And then they have several which are right at the front with nothing in front of you but the sea and sand, an amazing place to wake up each day for sunrise.

The Food:

The restaurant at Castaway is very popular and well known on the Island. Through out the day there are many tourists coming to have breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and it’s easy to see why.

First of all the Food – one word… YUMMY. They have a good variety of different food from Local Thai Dishes to Western, we tried a selection and all were great. For us personally the biggest shoutout has to go to the breakfast, from Full Cooked Breakfast to Pancakes to French Toast to Granola and more it is all well presented, super tasty and a high level of ingredients.

Drinks are also another good reason to head to the Castaway Restaurant. Each evening we would find ourselves sitting on the beach front chairs or cushions enjoying buy 1 get 1 free drinks during happy hour whilst listening to the soft sounds of the waves.

Not only is the Food & Drink so good, but the whole atmosphere and feel of the restaurant is great. With good easy listening music, a variety of cushions, chairs or even a Long Tail Boat table to choose from it really is a great place to hang out, chill and read a good book whilst feeling incredibly relaxed.

Resort Video Tour:

So would we recommend staying at Castaway Resort???

In a heartbeat, this is a great place to relax and spend your vacation on Ko Lipe. It strikes a good balance between a high end well run resort whilst retaining a laid back bungalow castaway feel.

Prices are reasonable as well, with prices from around $50 per night (depending on time of year and what bungalow you stay in) and if you use the discount code: @bigbirdstravels you will get 15% off on your next stay.

We loved our stay at the Castaway and cannot wait to return in the near future.

Located Here:

Castaway Resort is located on Sun Rise Beach, East of the Island.

When you arrive by boat, which brings you to the other side of the Island, just take one of the waiting Tuk-Tuk’s who can transport you to the Castaway Resort.

Tuk-Tuk’s are 50baht per person and will take you anywhere on the Island for that price, you can NOT negotiate this is a set price.
